80.000 rejects austerity package of the reactionary government

Police said 40.000 attended the demonstration in front of the parliament on June 8th 2010, the organisers said 80.000 - and they are right. The main demand was the withdrawal of the austerity package.

The organisers were the trade union centrals LO (mainly industrial workers) and FTF (mainly office workers and public employees) against a plan of rhe rightwing government ofy Lars Løkke Rasmussen (follower of Anders Fogh Rasmussen) and the supporting party the racist Danish Peoples Party The propose to reduce the period of unemployment support from four to two years . In Denmark it is easy to sack workers, but they have had a long period of unemployment benefits asd a compensation - the system is named flexicurity.

They also reduce social services and hit hard at families with children, people under education etc - while they have given tax reductions to the rich, the multinationals hardly pay any taxes and Danish expendioture for wars are at record heights.

People have had enough and are protesting and the social democratic trade unions have set in motion to control this movement - and secure a victory for the socialdemocrats and the socialists at the coming election in about one and a half year.
