May Day, 2002: For Peace! For Socialism!

Statement of the Workers' Communist Party of Denmark (APK) on May 1, 2002

The US used September 11, 2001, to declare a never-ending "War on Terror". Its consequences: Israeli massacres on the Palestinian people, as in Jenin, the war against Afghanistan, a possible new big war against Iraq, Central Asia and Caucasus filled with US military bases, US troops in action against popular risings in the Philippines and Colombia, a US-backed military coup in Venezuela, etc.
Racism and xenophobia are thriving. Reaction is marching. Right extremists are coming into the government offices.
"Terror legislation" is limiting democratic rights, political protest and workers' struggle. Rearmament, wars and record profits are being paid by the working people and the world's poor.
Therefore, the workers and peoples of the whole world are against the US war lunacy.

Nyrup Rasmussen (the former Social Democratic Prime Minister, translator's note) and his government were 100 percent behind Bush and his terror war. Fogh Rasmussen (Denmark's current Liberal Prime Minister, translator's note) is an echo of the stupid American president and his highly dangerous policy.
Fogh Rasmussen will be the president of the EU in the coming six months period when new steps towards the super state and the superpower will be taken. The EU is the project of big capital and the monopolies.
Therefore, the workers in the EU countries are against the EU of the monopolies.
Therefore, Denmark out of the EU!

Fogh Rasmussen's rightist bloc with the Danish People's Party will force through the minimal state that Fogh Rasmussen wants: a neoliberal society organized for profit and for the joy of the monopolies. This project, too, is against the interests of the great majority of people.
Therefore, we are against the Fogh Rasmussen government and all that it represents.

The seriousness of the situation demands organization, struggle and activity, which have to be built from the basis. It demands unity for a policy for peace and against war, for the demands of the workers and the broad population, and against any government supporting NATO and the EU. It should not be a policy for bringing the Social Democrats back in power.
This is the way that the APK recommends.
The obedience of Fogh Rasmussen and Nyrup Rasmussen to the US and the EU leads to a disaster.

The future belongs to socialism!
